Sun and Clouds: Protecting Little Ones in February

Did you know clouds let through 80% of UV rays? Learn how to protect your child's skin during deceptive February weather.

Sun and Clouds: Protecting Little Ones in February

February can be sunny one moment and cloudy the next, but did you know that clouds still let through at least 80% of the sun's rays? ๐ŸŒฅ๏ธ Even when the air feels cool, UV rays are still at work. Here are some essential rules to remember when walking with your little ones:

โ˜€๏ธ Avoid Peak Hours

Even if it's not hot, the sun is most active between 10:00 and 16:00. Try to limit outdoor time during these hours.

๐Ÿ‘’ Proper Gear

A wide-brimmed hat that covers the face, ears, and neck is the best protection in any season.

๐Ÿ‘• Clothing

Dress them in tightly woven thin cotton clothing โ€“ long sleeves and pants are the most reliable barriers.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Infants Under 6 Months

Keep them out of direct sunlight entirely! Apply sunscreen only to small areas (face, back of hands), and only if you cannot find shade.

๐Ÿงด Sunscreen

Use at least SPF 15-30 that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Apply 15-30 minutes before going out and refresh every 2 hours.

๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Eye Protection

Use UV protective sunglasses (99-100% protection). A child's eyes are very sensitive!

โš ๏ธ Important: Avoid spray-type sunscreens near the face to prevent inhalation. Also, avoid products containing PABA โ€“ we don't want skin irritation!
